Our partnerships, the core of our being……

by Sean M. Harris

In business, as in life, no one can operate in isolation. Well, they can, but it’s very unlikely that they can succeed. That’s why I am pleased that here at CMCHC we realize that our relationships are what make us successful. Looking at the types of services we provide, we could be of no benefit to the community or to ourselves if we did not seek out and develop relationships with as many partners as possible.  When speaking of a “Healthy Community” the message should be one of collaboration not competition with the people that are attempting to achieve similar goals. Although the approaches and roles may be different, a lot of us are striving for the same things. A better community, city, nation, and World.

In my role here at the center I try to bring all of my skills to the communities and partners that I work with. That’s why I was delighted when I got the opportunity to join the Board of Directors for Aids Project Worcester (APW) and forge a strong partnership with an agency doing great work in the area. The staff and volunteers have made it a pleasure to become involved.  HIV/Aids not only impacts those individuals that are infected, but the rest of the community as well. APW does a great job of helping those infected and affected by the disease. Their outreach efforts to educate others about decreasing your risks are tremendous. In addition, the amount of effort put into reaching marginalized populations is commendable.

For so many people the fight against HIV/AIDS is not at the fore front of their mind, if they are not directly impacted by it. Not, realizing that it is indeed everyone’s fight and one we should all be lending a hand in. APW also attempts to engage all others in that fight. There are activities going on year round that are open to the community. If you have an interest in getting involved with one of our most dedicated partners please do. Whether it’s donating money, your time, resources or just attending a community event it is appreciated.  The work that’s being done is not easy, but it is worth it. That’s why we are glad to be a partner with APW, in our efforts to make every community a “Healthy Community”.
