2nd Annual, Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services Recovery Community Conference – No Wrong Door to Recovery: Education is the Key. This year’s consumer-based conference will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at the Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlborough, Massachusetts. No Wrong Door to Recovery is intended to meet the needs of persons in recovery from addiction and families of persons with histories of addiction .

WHAT: Trend Analysis: Changes Over Time*
WHEN: Wednesday, May 21 st from 9:30am – 4pm
WHERE: Hoagland Pincus Center – 22 Maple Ave. Shrewsbury, MA
- Participants will identify the benefits of examining trends over time
- Participants will use trend analysis to understand health outcomes in their community by examining the frequency and distribution of these health outcomes in terms of time trends and racial/ethnic group trends
- Participants will use trend analysis results to make future projections and policy recommendations
- Participants will plot their outcome of interest over time and analyze the results
WHAT: Putting it All Together – Writing a Community Report**
WHEN: Thursday, June 19 th from 9:30am – 4pm
WHERE: Hoagland Pincus Center – 22 Maple Ave. Shrewsbury, MA
- Participants will describe the elements in a report
- Participants will draft an outline and begin to write up results from trainings from Jan – May
- Participants will share preliminary results with other trainees
- Participants will develop a plan for creating a final community report with quantitative and qualitative data
All trainings are FREE and include lunch!

Presenter: L. Suzanne Suggs, PH.D, CHES
Suzanne will introduce the concept of social marketing and the rationale for using it. She will highlight methods of obtaining funding, finding inexpensive resources, creating partnership opportunities, and using innovative strategies. She will focus on examples of effective social marketing campaigns, including what works and what kind of outcomes can be achieved. The workshop will be presented in an interactive fashion that allows questions and dialog between the participants and the presenter.
