Youth Development
CMCHC recognizes the important role youth and young adults play in creating healthier communities and is committed to the development of programs and policies that incorporate the youth development approach.
What is youth
development?
Youth Development is a process by which all young people seek to meet their
basic physical and social needs and build competencies (knowledge and skills)
necessary to succeed in adolescence and into adulthood.
Youth Resource Guides
You will find information, listings, and resource guides for youth and providers,
with a focus on Central Mass.
Youth Development Links
There are many different models and tools to help understand the importance
of engaging youth in meaningful ways while providing them with quality supports
and resources in a healthy environment. You will find links for and about
youth, youth programs and youth development frameworks compiled by CMCHC.
Our goal is to assist communities, coalitions and agencies to shift from youth focused to youth centered. A youth centered approach "emphasizes fully preparing young people to succeed and contribute now and as adults; rather than focusing simply on ensuring that young people are not engaged in risky behaviors."
